This is the end. Of the year, of course, but for me it's also time to review ways of thinking and doing that zap my creative spirit, charge up chases down unproductive rabbit holes, or freeze the next step with Never Good Enough.
The process is much like pruning my pear tree. Even though a branch may be strong, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing, it's lack of support toward fruit production drains the tree's resources away from achieving the desired sticky, sweet summer treat.
So as the low, winter light illuminates next spring's clipping chore, I ponder the branches I've grown this year and ask of each: Fruitful?
Those reachings as a whole or any one twig choking the growth of potential realization must go.
Prune it and push on.
Here's hoping you achieve creative breakthroughs in 2015, and that you have fun doing it!
